Training Program: Genetic Inheritance: Dominant vs. Recessive
Description: This course describes inheritance using interactive lessons and case studies. The course looks at Gregor Mendel, and his early experiments on traits found in pea plant. Mendel is recognized as the founder of genes as a mode of inheritance, and his work was not recognized for its value until after his death, decades after his discoveries. Genotypes and phenotypes are described through illustration and interactive lessons.
Certification Requirements: Students must view the entire program and successfully pass an online, multiple-choice final assessment with >80% passing grade within a 90 day period of time (180 days for Professional Designation Programs). Certificate is accessible in PDF format immediately after satisfying requirements.
Online Training Programs Include:
To teach the basics about inheritance, and how the shuffling of dominant and recessive genes are expressed as dominant, intermediate, or recessive phenotypes. Learners will understand how inheritance works and will run experiments to see how pea plants inherit traits through cross-breeding studies.
