Description: Online training with immediate access upon enrollment. Pain sensations can result from adverse sensory and emotional experiences that cause actual or perceived tissue damage. The nervous system detects, processes, and interprets nociceptive stimuli, which is painful or potentially painful stimuli, to create the subjective pain experience. Pain caused by tissue injury, or nociceptive pain, leads to physical disability and high societal economic costs. Physicians use pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies to treat nociceptive pain. This course discusses the pathophysiology and epidemiology of nociceptive pain.
Certification Requirements: Students must view the entire program and successfully pass an online, multiple-choice final assessment with >80% passing grade within a 90 day period of time (180 days for Professional Certification Programs).
