MedTech Honors Nine Outstanding Contributions in New York’s Bio/Med Ecosphere

SYRACUSE, N.Y. January 2022MedTech Association, a coalition of pharmaceutical, medical technology, and life sciences companies, research and academic institutions, suppliers, service providers, and New York’s trade association for the bio/med industry, hosted and announced the winners at its Annual Honors Ceremony. This year’s ceremony was held at del Lago Resort & Casino in Waterloo, NY accompanied by a New Year Celebration of collaboration and networking. MedTech and its community congratulate the following honorees.

Tapecon. Bio/Med Industry Pioneer. Throughout its 100+ year history, Tapecon has delivered innovative solutions to its customers. It partners with medical device product teams to develop, scale, and deliver better products through responsive and reliable printing, converting, and advanced manufacturing. Tapecon’s medical solutions division helps healthcare innovators bring cutting edge treatments to market. Throughout its history, Tapecon has demonstrated a unique ability to adapt to industry change and a nimbleness that has allowed it to meet the constantly evolving needs of its clients.

Curia Global. Outstanding Contribution to the Bio/Med Industry. Curia Global is an end-to-end CDMO that helps pharmaceutical and biotech companies improve patients’ lives. It combines a flexible suite of research and development and manufacturing capabilities with industry-leading expertise to help its customers accelerate the journey from idea to impact. The company has come a long way from its founding in 1991 as Albany Molecular Research, Inc. Originally known for the discovery and development of the active pharmaceutical ingredient in Allegra, the company has become a global powerhouse with a comprehensive suite of solutions capable of serving customers across the drug development spectrum.

GRYT Health Global Virtual Cancer Conference. Project of the Year. First launched in 2019 with the aim of connecting and empowering those affected by cancer with experts and medical treatments, GRYT Health’s Global Virtual Cancer Conference has become more than a cancer conference, a healthcare conference or a patient education conference; it has become a humanity conference empowering cancer patients to tackle the issues they face together. Led by its visionary leader, Dave Craig, and a team of cancer survivors with a passion for patient empowerment, GRYT and its Global Virtual Cancer Conference has become a force for change in the treatment of cancer and related diseases.

University at Buffalo. Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Research. The University at Buffalo is one of the premier research-intensive public universities in the country, investing more than $400 million annually on research. In addition to finding solutions to critical healthcare challenges, the University at Buffalo’s technology licensing, training opportunities and research partnerships link academic discoveries to community and business partners in New York and around the globe. As the lynchpin of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and through its affiliations with hospitals and leading healthcare research institutions, the University at Buffalo is bringing life-saving cures and treatments to patients worldwide.

Biopharma Institute. New York Bio/Med Ecosystem Partner. Biopharma Institute offers a world-class training experience with a mission to provide the compliance training necessary to assist both professionals and their corporate employers with maintaining a safe environment for employees and consumers while aiming to achieve a competitive edge in the marketplace. Over this past year, MedTech has been proud to help deliver Biopharma Institute’s quality training programs to our members and we look forward to continuing to bring its quality educational programs to New York’s bio/med companies.

Kathi Durdon. Economic Development Superstar. As Executive Director of the CNY Biotech Accelerator at Upstate Medical University, Kathi leads workforce and business development initiatives while also directing the operations of New York State’s premier business accelerator focused on biotech and healthcare innovation. Among her many achievements, Kathi spearheads the CNYBAC Medical Device Innovation Challenge, an annual competition that attracts medical device innovators from across the globe. MedTech is particularly proud to count Kathi has a member of its Board of Directors and a leader on the association’s Executive Team.

Michelle Bonn and Compliance Team. Bio/Med Groundbreaker. As President and CEO of Compliance Team, a premier FDA regulatory and compliance consultancy, Michelle leads the company’s strategic direction and vision. Before acquiring Compliance Team, Michelle was the president and CEO of Guideline Medical, a medical device regulatory consulting firm. Here she led international teams, ISO-13485 certifications, FDA regulatory clearances, FDA audits, and Health Canada Medical Device License registrations. Throughout her career, Michelle has demonstrated a unique commitment to, and generosity toward, New York’s bio/med industry and has devoted countless hours to helping companies and individuals navigate the complexities of FDA regulatory and compliance requirements. She exemplifies the best in New York’s bio/med industry.

Phillips Lytle. Bio/Med Catalyst. Throughout its 185+ year history as a leading law firm, Phillips Lytle has provided the highest level of client service to businesses and individuals. MedTech is New York State’s trade association for the bio/med industry— an active association of over 100 pharmaceutical, biotech and medical technology companies, their suppliers and service providers, and research universities.
